I am a Research Scientist (Consultant) with the GENDER Project at the Center on Gender Equity and Health at the University of California, San Diego. I am a quantitative researcher interested in examining the factors and policy levers that affect the well-being of women and children in low and middle-income countries. My research focuses on women’s economic empowerment, particularly, women’s decision-making within the household, the role of social norms, gender differences in health over the life course, and the evaluation of social programs such as cash transfers. Previously, I was a Postdoctoral Scholar with the Gender Equality Metrics (GEM) team at the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) at the University of Washington, Seattle. I hold a Ph.D. in Public Policy & Management from the Daniel J. Evans School of Public Policy & Governance at the University of Washington, an MA in Global Studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a BA in Economics from Fergusson College, Pune University, India.
